No, I am not talking about my wild life; as you will all remember I am still recovering from my broken ankle but I am talking about the real deal. These pictures were taken on Sunday afternoon. As you can see from the pictures the snow has melted, the sun is out and the temperature is warming up.
The pair of geese as I have mentioned before have a nest along the north side of our pond. They take turns sitting on the nest to keep the eggs warm. If my memory is serving right, last year I believe we were the proud parents of five baby geese. I expect the arrival of this bunch in about two or three weeks. The geese aren't too bothered by myself or my husband when we are out in the yard. If one does walk too close or in the direction of the nest they will get between you and the nest. I have never encountered a goose too closely but I am aware that they can really put up a good fight if they want to. We respect their area outside and give them plenty of room not to feel threatened by us.

If you look to the right of the tall swale grass at the edge of the pond you will be able to see a goose on the nest. Ok you probably cannot see the nest but it is there. This spot seems to be the favorite area as we have had many nests there in the past. The area is right next to the pond allowing the parent geese quick access to the nest if they are out in the water. Also, the shrubs along side the pond act as a wind breaker giving them some protection from the weather. We are starting our tenth year at this house and have never quite gotten used to the beauty of our backyard. A day doesn't go by that we don't step back to take a long look outside.

I love your pond, and the geese. I hope you'll post more pictures of your property/garden.
Boy that bird sure looks like a lot of fun! If we were there, we could "play" with the babies!
Love,
Opus and Roscoe
We are still waiting to hear about this wonderful family of yours! hehehehehe!
Love the photos of the pond. Makes me wish I could be there right now. Well, maybe not RIGHT NOW but rather when it warms up.
Not to rub it in (well, okay just to rub it in) we are having another warm, sunny day here in Italy. Wow, it is so warm I think I need to take my sweater off now.
Love,
Cyn
ps. Wow, look at Opus and Roscoe back to blogging! What good little kitties!
Kim & Victoria-you bet I will have more pictures of our property. We started a new flower bed last fall and hopefully what we put in will make an appearance this year. Not sure how much I will be able to work outside with the ankle, wanted to get things in early. Will see what happens. Hard to tell with this weather.
Kitties-I would love to have you here watching the geese but do not recommend playing with them. I think the geese might want your fur for another nest. I would not want harm to come to you so you two must at all times stay away from geese.
ps Glad to see you two back
Cyndi-have you been gone so long you dont remember your wonderful family (ha). When you see us this summer it will all come back to you until then meet your father in the newest post. He has his wonderful granddaughter with him in the picture. See you soon.
Hello Steph,
Was so surprised to find you already have 7 chapters done on life in Indiana. I saw one yesterday and didn't know about the earlier ones. You are having fun. Cyn was going to help me set one up for myself and I declined as I didn't think anyone would be interested in life in Sun City Center, Florida which, I must say is pretty darned good.
Spent the morning out at the butterfly garden that I helped get started. New plants were planted and I wrote their names on plant tags that get stuck in the ground for others to see and learn. I must say, the garden looked very well thanks to volunteers doing all of the harder work. We do not have a pond there but, do have the Little Manatee River nearby.
I can hardly wait to come north and visit your estate. It really is beautiful. And, to think, you have geese occupying some of it. Must be fun to watch the babies grow. Better keep an eye on Roscoe and Opus no matter how far away you may think they are.
Love,
Nonnaita
Mom-good to hear from you and glad that you enjoyed the blog. It is fun to work on and also meeting new people that visit it. You should have Cyndi set you up with your own blog I think you would enjoy it. It is always fun to hear what one is doing. You can put as much or little work into your posts as you want.
