New Arrivals

Looking outside today to check on the two geese that we have nesting, I found a wonderful surprise! Our goose population has increased with the arrival of four adorable little yellow and black babies.

The proud parental geese keep close tabs on the little ones. We had quite a time getting pictures as any movement outside would cause the family to quickly go away from us. The babies stay close to mom and at times are underneath her when she is walking. The father goose is always on the watch, reminding me of the terminator, as he is constantly looking all around, making sure things are safe for his family to be out.

The Webb family spent a lot of time on our beach today, and in the evening they walked around the edge of the pond and swam from one side to the other--quite a workout for the little ones.

We will keep you posted on their progress, with pictures if we can get close enough. You might have to look closely to see the babies but I assure you that the family is all together.

If anyone has ideas for names we are open to suggestions as all critters on our property are given names.

Check back in to see what the little ones are doing.

How cute, new little birdie for a snack, oops, um, to look at and watch them grow up.

Adorable! A friend of mine who works in downtown Boise said some geese hatched their babies in the window box outside her office. Cool.

Derby-when I made this post I was a little afraid you cats might get the wrong idea. I do understand, however, that this is meals on the go for you guys. Old habits are hard to break. I will ask that all cats in our neighborhood just watch them grow not watch them go. Do you have any ideas for names? Was thinking you might go along with Breakfast, Lunch, Snack & Dinner (ha).

Kim & Victoria-I wished that I knew more about the habits of geese. Will have to research the subject more. I have been told that geese come back to where their nest was the year before so your friends might have baby geese outside their window again. Any ideas for names?

Amy-Hey not bad, cute idea.

Scott, Emily & Cara-Hope you will be able to get up here while the geese are still here. They are fun to watch. Name ideas??

Ummmmmmm, they look sooo good! If you want to put an Italian spin on the names, call them Colazione, Pranzo, Cena, and Meranda (breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack). We think they would be better toys than food though. Of course we would have to get up and chase them and that sounds like way too much work!

Love,
Opus and Roscoe

Steph,

I nominate Gossie and Gertie for two of them, in honor of my nephew's favorite book (Of course, subject to change daily, as he is 3!).

The beginning reads: Gossie and Gertie are best friends. They splash in the rain, play hide-and-seek, and they dive in the pond together. Everywhere Gossie goes, Gertie does too.

Of course, Gossie and Gertie are ducks, but close enough!!

Lookin' forward to seeing you next week!

Derby-I knew you especially would enjoy the names suggested. I also want to wish you happy adoption day.

Opus & Roscoe-You cats what can I say. Eating is good huh but chasing is to much work. You do have a point though.

Annie-good idea. I do not know that story, will have to check it out at the library. See you soon.

Stelle in Italia-I didn't really even think about you all over seas not having Canadian geese. The geese are everywhere here when they migrate, passing overhead in large groups.
