Dear Dad

That's my dad, see how proud I am of him!
ca 1947

Dear Dad,

I think about you every day. I miss seeing you and talking with you. I hope when you were here I took enough time to let you know what a wonderful father you were and how much I loved you and I still do. I miss you as much now as when you lwent to Heaven. How I would like to hear your voice again and get a hug from you. You were always there for me and I can still see the winkle in your eyes and the half smile on your face when I would do or say something funny. I knew that you were the head of the house and never pushed you with the rules even though I knew there pretty much wasn't anything I could do to upset you.

Family photo.

You would be so proud of your grandchildren and how you would love your great grand daughter, she is the love of my life and I know she would be at the top of your list.

On vacation in 1951 standing by the giant lake with my dad to protect me from falling in.

Thank you for being the best father anyone would be proud to have. For always being there sharing, caring, and loving.

Birthday celebration and the birthday spanking, one for each year, 1956.

Thank you for all you have done for me and given me and making me what I am today.

Love you forever and always,
Steph

Oh, dear, if you thought this would cheer us up....

Such a beautiful post. But it made Jan cry. She's kind of strange that way. Something about missing her own parents.

You obviously had a very close relationship with you dad -- and treasure it. One good thing, death cannot take away the memories of the good times or the love.

You were very fortunate to have a dad that gave you such wonderful memories. I should probably have added :) after the cheer us up... part. But it really did bring tears to my eyes.

I don't have many pictures of my dad but I can picture him in my mind.

I tried to post the other day and blogger wasn't being nice....

What a sweet and loving tribute to your father. I am proud to have had him as my grandfather. Remember how I always would "forget" my key, just so I could go stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house after school. Grandpa was always the one who would head to the kitchen to get my snack.

Just the other night we were at our town feast and I noticed a man with silver hair standing with his young grandson. There was something about his size, pants and shoes that made me think of Grandpa little. Though my eyes filled with tears, the thought of him also made me smile.

There will always be a hole in our hearts with out him here, but what wonderful memories he has left us....

ps. Two things I noticed about those photos....

1. You were ALWAYS goofing around in the photos and making strange faces (just like me).

and

2. YOU LOOK JUST LIKE ME! IT IS FREAKY!!!!

Cyn
ps. I know, I know... I look like you and not the other way around.
